Magzi and The Mars Academy by Joel Roy Science Fiction

Joël Roy

Retired professional pilot and military officer. A former fighter pilot and helicopter pilot for the Royal Canadian Air Force. An Instructor pilot. He is also a hobby farmer, enjoying making his own hay for his horses.

Joël Roy graduated from the Centre Québécois de Formation Aéronautique, before flying commercially. He wanted more; he joined the RCAF, earning a Baccalaureate in Military Arts and Science and became a fighter pilot flying the CF-18. He later also earned his rotary wings, and flew multiple search and rescue missions.

Over his three-decade career in the RCAF, he was given the opportunity to command two squadrons, and a Wing with assets spanning over 3 Provinces and a Territory. He also commanded a Canadian contingent in the middle east. He was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Military Merit in 2010.

When not writing from his ranch in St-Andrews, Manitoba, he either teaches flying at a nearby flight school to help aspiring students achieve their dream, or can be found with his wife Kristine, riding their horses over crazy jumps he enjoys making. He can also still be found on the ice every week, playing hockey with friends.
